Mon, 1/12: Complete 4 more Melodic Dictation Exercises on teoria.com. Try to challenge yourself with more difficult settings. (Quarter and eighth notes, arpeggiations, etc.)
Thurs, 1/8: Complete 4 Melodic Dictation Exercises on www.teoria.com. Partial credit will be given if your score is under 50% accurate. Take a screenshot of your score summary and email it to Ms. Batten at [email protected]. Settings: Major and Minor Keys, all scale degrees, quarter notes, simple measures. It is optional for you to complete this exercise with more difficult settings. An example of an appropriate screenshot is here (note that only one exercise was completed in this screenshot.) To take a screen shot on a mac, hold down command, shift, 4 and release all keys at once. The mouse turns into crosshairs for you to manipulate. To take a screenshot on a Windows 8 system, press the windows logo key and PrtScn. The entire screen will be saved in your pictures folder.

Fri, 11/14: Due Today: Record yourself singing two of the 4 selected melodies from the packet of previous AP Exam Sight-Singing Melodies. Email your recording to Ms. Batten at [email protected]. Recordings must be of your voice ONLY (no piano help). This will be graded as a Singing Test. Those who have not yet done the singing test are required to sing one minor and one major melody. (as of Wed, Nov. 12) Also Due Today: Write out the Three Forms (Natural, Harmonic, and Melodic) of the following Minor Scales: A, D, G, C, F, B-flat, E, B, F#, C#, G# (started during class).

Follow the voice-leading rules of no parallel octaves, fifths, or fourths, no more than an octave between soprano and alto or alto and tenor, no voice-crossing, and no doubling the third of each chord. Complete 50 Triad Ear-Training Drills on Musictheory.net. Take a detailed picture to show or send Ms. Batten with your name, score, and what type of exercise was completed.

Mon, 10/27: Catch up on missing assignments, especially "Rhosymedre" Figured Bass Realization
Mon, 10/13: Sight-Singing Test Today! Any melody chosen from the Melodia Handout. Also perform one rhythm-counting exercise from the "Rhythm Test" handout. Turn in Figured Bass Realization of Rhosymedre. Write all Roman Numerals and figured bass symbols at the bottom of each system, and write a melody (soprano line-stems always up). For each note of the melody, choose a note from the chord of that beat.
Tues, 10/7: Complete the Triad Spelling Worksheet. Do Ear Training Drills on musictheory.net with Intervals. Do at least 50 with 90% correct. Feel free to take out difficult intervals, such as 7ths or 6ths.
Friday, 10/3: Analyze the chords of "Splendor Falls" (same packet as "water beetle". Mark the beats of the last page of "Splendor Falls" by drawing a vertical line through the system and writing the beat number on top.
Wed, 10/1: Analyze all chords of "The Water Beetle": write the roman numerals of what the chord is at the bottom of the system. Use a lower-case Roman Numeral for minor chords and an Upper Case Roman Numeral for Major Chords. (Will not be collected until Friday!)
Mon, 9/29: Write in Solfege to all parts of "The Water Beetle" , write the Roman Numeral "I" under each chord that is made up of the notes "Do - Mi - So". Write a Roman Numeral "V" under the chords that have the notes "So - Ti - Re". Look "vertically" and these notes should all be stacked on top of each other, but not necessarily in the order of "So-Ti-Re" or "Do-Mi-So".
